March 2026

Welcome to March Furry Friends!! We have survived the bitter winter and we are looking forward to sunny days and higher temperatures! We are sending this email out to ALL customers with accounts on Paw Partner so we can reach our newbies as well. If you are not a current client, feel free to opt out of the emails & sorry for the morning bother :)

If you are new here, Hi, My name is Samantha and I am the owner here at Puckett's Pups - A Doggie Daycare, Boarding and Grooming facility right here in Marblehead OH. Here is a link to a video of our facility if you are interested in the behind the scenes : https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18CsGW6QBD/

I grew up right here in Marblehead and attended Danbury pretty much my whole life. After high school, I went on to play softball and cheer at Heidelberg University. My senior year I transferred to the University of Toledo during COVID to complete my Bachelors Degree in Business Communications and Marketing. During my college years, I raised my Siberian Husky to be a Therapy Dog in Toledo and worked alongside other dog handlers training Service Dogs. My own dog, Remington, attended a doggy daycare in Toledo during my long class days and I knew this was something that was needed near my hometown. Once COVID was in full swing, I dropped out of my Master's program and decided to take a different route with my future. We looked at locations for my Doggy Daycare and got super lucky with our current location. Once I began thinking about it more, I knew we needed overnight boarding as well and applied to switch my permit to include both services. Thankfully, both were granted to me from Danbury Township in 2021 and here we are now! We are in year FIVE of business and have some super exciting changes coming soon. We are always looking for ways to become better and give the dogs the best experience possible.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY : Let's get the boring stuff out of the way, but something that will be enforced as of today. We will no longer be allowing flexi-leads (retractable leashes) in the lobby and dogs NEED to be on a leash, no off leash dogs. If you show up off leash / with a flexi, we will slip lead your dog and you will need to come back with a regular leash and collar at pick up.I have had too many dogs breaking things, eating things, jumping on staff and injuring / scratching them lately and this just needs to be our rule now. Many facilities enforce this rule, if you are interested in purchasing a good leash, I can get you in contact with Canine Bliss who carries the same leather leashes that I use for my own dogs. Please respectful of my lobby and my staff, they work their butts off and care for 20-40 dogs everyday.

Belly Bands A couple of weeks ago we started to slowly implement belly bands as a resource to help combat marking in the playrooms. We have various sizes that we wash after every use. If you see any pictures with belly bands on dogs, just know that these are to help lessen the urine on our equipment / walls / beds, which require a lot of cleaning constantly. If your dog is one that we think needs a belly band in group, we will discuss this with you and take the next steps that will best suit your pup in our playroom!

Here is a little rundown on how we operate to keep our environment safe, fun and friendly! All dogs must abide by the same rules - Friendly with Staff is the most important. If your dog is testing for our playgroup, they MUST be friendly with ALL dogs. We do not take dogs with preferences, issues with certain sizes or breeds, etc. With that being said, we are pretty picky when it comes to passing on our daycare side. Dogs with rude play styles, invasive behavior or any aggressive tendencies will be pulled from group. I have a "one and done" type of introduction for our new clients. If your dog acts out of line, even after passing their temperament test, my staff and I have the right to dismiss the dog(s) depending on the situation at hand. The main goal of my job is safety. I need to feel comfortable leaving these dogs with my staff on a day to day basis with the lowest probability of conflict possible. We will be implementing more of a Enrichment Structure this summer for daycare, but that is kind of a little run down of how we function with our playgroup pups! All dogs are vaccinated for Bordetella, Distemper and Rabies prior to coming at anytime, dogs over 9 months must be spayed or neutered to be in playgroup and we do not accept wall jumpers, escape artists or gate climbers. While my facility may not be the perfect fit for every dog, we want to be able to offer a home away from home for everyone that stays with us. I can always help you personally find the best route for your dog if this isn't the right fit for you. (I have lots of resources and recommendations for all types of needs!)

Grooming : We get a lot of questions on grooming - while I wish we had a full time, fully equipped groomer on our staff, we just have not reached that point quite yet. We do not offer full hair cuts at this time and we do not groom matted dogs. We offer Express Grooms (Basic Bath, Blow Dry, Brush, Nails) and we offer Mini Grooms (Same things but trimming of the feet, face and sanitary if needed). We do not have our books open online for grooming because every dog takes a different amount of time and we also have boarding exit baths in our routine, if you are ever interested in grooming services that we offer you can call, text or add it on to your other reservations!

Hours & Boarding Evening Pick Up : We have a great routine with our dogs and staff, we offer daycare Monday through Friday, unless otherwise posted beforehand. Drop offs are 7-11am and pick ups are 3-7pm, our boarding hours during the week also fall into these time frames! On the weekends, we have boarding only and we are open 8-10am and 4-6pm with an out of hours fee of $25 per dog! We can try our best to be flexible if enough notice is given, but these are our set hours of business! Also, if you are booking a boarding reservation and you drop off your pup in the morning hours and on the last day, you pick up in the evening hours, a Evening Pick Up Fee is added to your invoice. This Evening Pick Up fee is added because our rates are based on a 24 hour stay, the evening fee is a half day charge to cover the rest of the day on your last day.

Time for the Exciting Stuff for Daycare our Frequent Daycare Members!! Attached below are our new Memberships beginning in April and our 2026 schedule that includes some pop up Saturday daycare days. We will offer these on certain Saturdays from 9am to 5pm, the dates are highlighted in yellow. Drop off 9-10 and Pick Up 4-5, I will only be accepting about 10 dogs each Saturday and will post these openings the week of (the Monday before). Our memberships will be on a AUTO renewal system, so if you sign up for the memberships, it will renew at the beginning of each month until you cancel. We will not go back and forth on these memberships, if you prefer to do the packages those will still be offered with no expiration date! I will gather double dog pricing on memberships ASAP for those interested!

SHUTDOWN and Closures : The blue highlights are dates that we will not have daycare offered. Mostly due to holidays or me being out of state / out of town, with spotty cell service. I prefer to always be a call away if the staff needs to get ahold of me, and this gives us a little break every once in a while with a little less influx of pups since we are super busy all summer. Our fall shutdown dates have been verified as October 5-11th, we will not be offering any services during those dates. We will also have a small shutdown the beginning on February as well during our super slow period.

Trial Nights and Full Day Evaluations : Each new dog must complete a trial prior to booking. Full day evaluations are specifically for those that are interested in Doggy Daycare. A Trial Night is for those interested in boarding overnight, and possibly daycare as well since we can do the daycare evaluation during the trial night. Both of these can be booked in Paw Partner. Trial nights and Full Day Evaluations must be scheduled DURING THE WEEK, this way we have extra staff on hand for the evaluation and we can relay information to the parents in a timely manner. All new dogs will now have a Report Card sent to the parents at the end of the day, this will include any information discussed throughout the day, new information to keep on hand for future stays and any notes relayed from the staff to myself. Trial Nights and Evaluations are the reason we can have so many dogs stay with us safely, we will always be honest and to the point on these to ensure safety and prioritize the dogs needs! Below are our pricing sheets for all of our services, if you have any questions, we are just a click away!

Also, we do not accept new dogs over Holidays/ Holiday weekends. All dogs that stay with us around the holidays are accustomed to our routine and have passed our testing requirements. We do not have exceptions to this holiday rule! Holiday deposits are also paid 100% while non-holidays are 50%, all deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to a credit on your account if enough notice is given. 72 hour notice for holidays and 24 hour notice for non-holiday boarding cancellations.
